دوستان عزیز سلام!

عید بزرگ مبعث رو به شما تبریک میگم و شعری به زبان انگلیسی که مرتبط با حضرت محمد (ص) هست رو بهتون تقدیم میکنم:

If  Prophet Muhammad visited you,
Just for a day or two;
If he came unexpectedly
I wonder what you'd do.

Oh! I know you'd give your nicest room
To such an honored guest;
And all the food you'd serve to him
Would be the very best;

And you would keep assuring him,
You're glad to have him there;
Your hospitality would be beyond belief
And service beyond compare.

But... when you saw him coming,
Would you meet him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome
To your honoured visitor?

Or... would you have to change your
Clothes before you let him in?
Or hide some magazines and put
The Quran where they had been?

Would you still watch movies
On your trusty TV set?
Or would you rush to switch it off
Before he gets upset?

Would you turn off the radio
And hope he hadn't heard?
And wish you hadn't uttered
That last loud nasty word?

Would you hide you worldly music
And instead take Islamic books out?
Could you let him walk right in,
Or would you rush about?

And, I wonder... if the Prophet spent
A day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things
That you always do?

Would you go right on saying the things
You always used to say?
Would life for you continue
As it does from day to day?

Would your family conversation
Keep its usual pace?
Or would you find it hard each meal
To say a table grace?

Would you keep up each and every
Prayer, forcing back a frown?
And would you always jump up early
For every prayer at dawn?

Would you sing the songs you always do
And read the books you read?
And let him know things on which
Your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take the Prophet with you
Everywhere you normally go?
Or would you , maybe, change your plan
Just for a day or so?

Would you be glad to have him meet
Your very closest friends?
Or would you hope they'd stay away
Until his visit ends?

Would you be glad to have him stay
Forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief
When he at last was gone?

It might be interesting to know
The things you would do
If the Prophet Muhammad, in person,
Came to spend some time with you.

What can you hold in your left hand but not in your right hand?

Answer: Your right elbow!

Cut Class/school

Meaning: to be absent from class without permission

Synonym 1: ditch class/ school

Synonym 2: play hooky

Examples:

She started cutting classes/ school and fighting with her parents.

Let's ditch the class/ school and go to the park!

That's the second time this week he's played hooky!

As well as:

And also

I love to play tennis as well as going to the beach!

Right/ Straight off the bat:

Immediately, as soon as possible

You can't expect to be accepted in a new town right/straight off the bat.

Sleep on it:

Decide later, usually the next day

"Can I sleep on it, and tell you my decision tomorrow?"

Talking about FUTURE 3:

3.       Going to (do):

از going to do زمانی برای آینده استفاده میکنیم که میخواهیم تصمیم بر انجام کار برنامه ریزی نشده ای را بیان کنیم.

-          I hear Sarah has won some money. What is she going to do with it?

She’s going to buy a new car.

-          What are you going to do tonight?

I’m going to have an early night. (I’m going to bed early but I haven’t arranged the time for it)

نکته: از عبارت was going to do هنگامی استفاده میکنیم که میخواهیم بگوییم قصد انجام کاری را داشتیم اما به علتی آنرا انجام ندادیم:

-          I was just going to cross the road when sb shouted ‘Stop!’

-          We were going to travel by train, but then we decided to go by car instead.

The Homecoming Parade

Homecoming parade is an event held every fall by many high schools and colleges, especially in small towns. It is week long celebration with parties, dances, and dinners for the old graduates (alumni), as well as for the new students and their friend and parents. One of the outstanding events is the crowning of the homecoming queen, who is chosen by the students of the school. The queen opens the sports event – usually a homecoming football game.

جشن بازگشت به محل تحصیل!!

این جشن هر سال، در آغاز فصل پاییز در بسیاری از دبیرستان ها و دانشگاه ها به خصوص در شهرهای کوچک تر برگزار میشود. این جشن شامل چندین مهمانی، رقص و دعوت به شما برای فارغ التحصیلان و همین طور دانش آموزان جدید الورود به همراه والدین و دوستانشان میباشد. بخشی از این مراسم تاجگذاری ملکه میباشد که توسط دانش آموزان هر مدرسه یا دانشگاه انتخاب میشود. وی مسابقات ورزشی – که معمولا با فوتبال آغاز میشود- را افتتاح میکند.

He brings disaster upon his nation who never sows a seed, or lays a brick, or weaves a garment, but makes politics his occupation!

بر سر ملت خویش فاجعه می آورد کسی که بذری نمی کارد، آجری بر آجری نمی گذارد و یا جامه ای نمی دوزد اما سیاست را پیشه ی خود میسازد!

If reward is the goal of religion, if patriotism servers self interest, and if education is pursued for advancement, then I would prefer to be a non believer, a non-patriot, and a humbly ignorant man!

اگر هدف دین پاداش باشد، اگر وطن دوستی در خدمت منافع شخصی باشد، اگر آموزش و پرورش را برای پیشرفت دنبال کنند، پس من ترجیح میدهم فردی بی اعتقاد، آدمی بدون حب وطن و انسانی معمولی و نادان باشم.

Chill out :

Meaning:  to calm down

SYNONYM: Mellow out, Chill, Take a chill pill

ANTONYM: Freak out (also known as FREAK)

Examples:

Shelly, just chill (out), Okay?

Don't be so upset about it! Mellow out!

If he doesn't arrive in five minutes, I'm going to freak (out)!

Whistling brings misfortune!

People used to think that whistling was the noise made by evil spirits and that it invited misfortune. Whistling was considered very unlucky in a closed place such as a house or a ship. It was considered especially unlucky, for example, to whistle in a theater dressing room.

سوت زدن بدشانسی می آورد!

در گذشته مردم معتقد بودند که سوت  صدایی است که توسط ارواح شیطانی به وجود می آید و بد شانسی می آورد. سوت زدن در مکانی کوچک مثل خانه یا کشتی یا به عنوان مثال سوت زدن در اطاق رختکن تئاتر بسیار ناخوشایند تلقی میشد.

The person, who wishes to know the degree of esteem or rank near God, should observe to what extent God has respect for him.

The Two Brothers

In a town in the mountains there is a little family. The father is a doctor. The mother is a doctor, too. The two brothers in the family say, "We don't wanna be doctors."

"What do you wanna be?" asks the father.

The two brothers say, "We always go for walks in the mountains. How about shepherds?"

The next day the two brothers go up the mountain. They find a shepherd with his sheep and he teaches them. "We can be shepherds!" they say.

After they eat lunch, they go to sleep under a tree.

A horn pokes big brother in the arm. He jumps up and says to little brother, "Get up! Let's get out of here!" they do not look behind and see the sheep with horns.

They start to run down the mountain. Horns poke into them from behind. They cry, "Help!" they get to a river and swim.

When they get home their mother asks, "Do you like being shepherds?"

Big brother says, "No! We can fight fires, fix teeth, help sick people and teach sports!"

"But we never wanna be shepherds," says little brother.

2.       Present Continuous:

از زمان حال استمراری برای بیان آینده ای استفاده میکنیم که قبلا در مورد آن تصمیم گیری و برنامه ریزی شده باشد:

-          What are you doing on Saturday evening? (Not what do you do…)

I’m going to the theater. (Not I go…)

-          What time is Cathy arriving tomorrow?

Half past ten. I’m meeting her at the station.

-          I’m not working tomorrow. So we can go out somewhere.

Ace a test:

Meaning: to do extremely well on a test

SYNONYM: Pass a test with flying colors

ANTONYM: Blow a test

Examples:

After studying for 10 hours a day, Jack aced the math test!

I always wanted to pass my physics with flying colors, but I never pulled it off!

It's the second test he has blown this year!

The evil eye

There is an ancient belief that some people have the power to harm another's health or happiness simply by looking at them. To protect yourself from being noticed by evil eye, you must not openly praise yourself or call attention to any good fortune.

چشم شور! (نظر بد!)

از زمان های دور عقیده ای وجود دارد مبنی بر این که بعضی افراد قدرت از بین بردن سلامت یا شادی دیگران را تنها با نگاه کردن به آنان دارند. برای جلوگیری از وقوع چنین چیزی، شما نباید آشکارا  از خودتان تعریف کنید و یا جلب توجه نمایید.
