History of Norouz

Norouz, in word, means "new day". It is the new day that starts the year, traditionally the exact astronomical beginning of the spring.

Used to (do):

از این عبارت هنگامی استفاده میکنیم که می خواهیم کاری (عادتی) را بیان کنیم که در گذشته به طور مکرر اتفاق میافتاده ولی اکنون دیگر اتفاق نمی افتد(مثال ١ و ٢). هم چنین می توان از این عبارت برای بیان آنچه که در گذشته حقیقت داشته اما اکنون دیگر حقیقت ندارد، استفاده نمود(مثال ٣ و ٤). برای آشنایی بهتر با نحوه استفاده این عبارت جملات زیر را با دقت بخوانید:

1.       David used to spend a lot of money on clothes. These days he can’t afford it.

2.       -Do you play basketball a lot?      ~Not now, but I used to.

3.       This building is now a furniture shop. It used to be a cinema.

4.       Nicole used to have very long hair when she was a child.

برای پرسیدن سوال با used to کافیست از قوانین ساده پرسش به زمان گذشته ساده تبعیت کنیم:

Did you use to eat a lot of sweets when you were a child?

برای منفی کردن used to دو راه وجود دارد. نخست آنکه از قوانین گذشته ساده استفاده کرد و دوم آنکه بین used و to، not قرار دهیم:

I didn’t use to like him.

I used not to like him.

Will & going to happen for predictions:

هر دوی عبارات فوق برای پیش بینی به کار میروند اما going to happen با توجه به موقعیت کنونی فردی یا چیزی گفته میشود در حالی که will برای دیگر پیش بینی ها به کار برده میشود. مثال:

Hey, look. The man doesn’t see the hole. He’s going to fall in the hole. (=Because he’s going toward the hole and he doesn’t see the hole, we predict that he’s going to fall in the hole)

The weather will be fine tomorrow. (=According to the news or sth else we say that it’ll be fine tomorrow.)

نکته دیگر نحوه استفاده از was going to happen می باشد. که هنگامی به کار میرود که پیش بینی ما درست از آب در نمی آید:

He was going to fall in the hole but his friend noticed him, so he didn’t fall in it.

I always do & I’m always doing:

تفاوت معنایی این دو عبارت در این است که عبارت اول به معنای انجام روزمره کار مشخصی میباشد حال آنکه عبارت دوم (I’m always doing) به معنای انجام مکرر و بیش از حد معمول کار مشخصی میباشد. برای فهم بهتر موضوع باز هم گریزی میزنیم به مثال:

I always go to work by car. (=I go to work by car every day and every time)

He always expects to pass his exams by cramming the day before each one. (=He does this before every exam)

I’ve lost my pen again. I’m always losing things. (=I lose things more than often or too often)

You’re always sleeping in bed; you’d better do something active to keep yourself in good health. (=you’re in bed too often)

آخر سر، جن از زن مو بور پرسید، "آرزوی شما چیست؟"

زن مو بور جواب داد: "خب، من الان خیلی تنها شده ام، پس از صمیم قلب آرزو می کنم دوستام دوباره برگردن پیشم!"
