Enough and too:

از enough بعد از صفت یا قید و قبل از اسم استفاده میکنیم:

I can’t run very far. I’m not fit enough. (Not… enough fit)

Is Joe going to apply for the job? Is he experienced enough?

The manager spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear.

There is more than enough food to go around.

Some of us had to sit on the floor because there weren’t enough chairs.

هنگامی که دو قید too و enough را با هم مقایسه میکنیم، too معنای "بیشتر از حد لازم" و enough معنای "کمتر از حد لازم" را خواهند داشت:

You never stop working. You work too hard. (Too = more than is necessary)

You’re lazy. You don’t work hard enough. (Enough = less than is necessary)

نکته قابل ذکر این که می توان از ساختارهای روبرو استفاده کرد:

Enough/too+…+for sb/sth

Enough/too+…+to do sth

We haven’t got enough money for a holiday.

This shirt is too long for me. I need a smaller size.

We haven’t got enough money to go on holiday.

They’re too young to get married.

The bridge is just wide enough for two cars to pass each other.

استفاده از ضمایر برای رجوع به آنچه که قبل از too و  enough آمده اشتباه است:

The wallet was too big to put in my pocket. (Not… too big to put it)

The chair isn’t strong enough to stand on. (Not… strong enough to stand on it)

حال یک سوال:

تفاوت معنایی دو جمله زیر در چیست؟

We don’t have big enough nails.

We don’t have enough big nails.

لطفا بعد از پاسخ به این سوال به این نکته توجه کنید که در مثال های فوق اگر بخواهیم اسم و صفت را همراه هم بیاوریم، با توجه به معنای مورد نظرمان، می توانیم صفت را قبل و اسم را بعد از enough و یا صفت و اسم را همراه هم بعد از enough بیاوریم.
